FAQ for In Person Equine Experiences

  • Who is this for?

Equine experiences can help you unlock your intuition, reveal aspects of you as leader or serve as an opportunity to connect with and learn from with a powerful four legged being. Programs may be customized for individuals who have experienced trauma, are disengaged with life, or who simply delight in being around horses.

  • Do I have to ride a horse?

No. You will not be riding a horse.

Because of the unpredictable nature of our equine partners, we will address any fears or anxiety before we begin equine-assisted activities to keep you and the horses safe. If you have any allergies or injuries that may affect your participation in the program, please let us know.

  • What do we do with horses?

You will be guided to partner with horses through a variety of activities, exploring trust, cooperation and communication as core aspects of leadership. The horses provide immediate feedback, which our facilitators will help you interpret, giving you opportunities in the moment to experiment with new ways to lead or follow. Research shows that animal-assisted interventions can improve mental health outcomes, including positive impacts on anxiety and stress.

  • Why do we work with horses?

As prey animals, horses are highly sensitive to both verbal and non-verbal communication and are uniquely attuned to shifts in energy and intention. Select horses are partnered with human facilitators to educate and support individuals and leadership teams.

  • What do I wear?

The weather in Southern California is generally mild, though weather and temperature will change throughout the day. We recommend you dress in layers, wearing long pants, a jacket, and a hat. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required; we suggest sneakers or boots. You will get dirty!

  • What if I'm scared?

It’s ok to be uncomfortable. Using this opportunity to voice your needs and concerns can be cathartic, plus the horses will never judge you for being honest! All activities are offered as options for you to learn. If anything about the situation feels unsafe to you or the facilitator, we will stop and reassess.
